Nearby Kastav is a place with a rich history, culture and tradition. The ruins of St. Mary's Church, popularly called Crekvina, stand in Kastav as a historical and cultural monument. The surrounding area offers many opportunities for an active vacation. There are numerous hiking trails and promenades, then cycling trails and another interesting way to explore the beautiful natural and historical heritage of the Kastav region is horseback riding. The village of Matulji, also called the gateway to the Opatija Riviera, is known for its bell tradition, which is on the UNESCO list of intangible heritage. In the local taverns, in addition to local specialties, you can also try ?jarbola?, a wine with a particular taste, made from the local grape variety. Visit the nearby nature park U?ka. Lovers of active vacations can enjoy the exceptional nature here, adorned with many protected and rare species of flora and fauna. From the top of Vojak you can enjoy a phenomenal panoramic view of the Kvarner islands, Istria and Rijeka. Visit Opatija, the center of cultural events, which include numerous concerts and festivals in the summer.
